It takes on a whole new meaning this year…
Whether you’re the teacher who ‘lost’ her/his class, or the parent who gained one! ~education now wears a face that we could not even have conceived of a few months ago.
During this special week in education, I wanted to recognize and applaud the efforts I hear about … coming from across our nation…
Teachers often are called to teach because of a desire to change the world…one child at a time. The reality is, we do change our world; just not as often, or as grandiosely as we enthusiastically entered the profession thinking we would!
That takes TIME… something teachers never have enough of.
Right now, we have been given that. TIME.
The demands we’re feeling, the learning curves we’re experiencing, and the heart-wrenching stories we cannot fix… can so quickly take our eyes off what we know deep inside is most important. Stay the course.
If we can stay in the moments we are given, we will still be able to look into our children’s eyes and souls… even across a ZOOM session. We may need to (continue) being creative in how we reach many of them. We will probably still hear fear rise up in their words, but we will also see the wonder of these young hearts entrusted to us…
They need us more than ever. They are our hope. But we are their rock.
When we can do this, time will not matter, in fact, what is lost will truly not matter, because we will still be teaching, by example, how to become the individuals they were created to be… the ones who will change our world, one moment at a time.
Peculiar article, just what I needed.
